The ICC East-Asia Pacific office has announced the squads for the upcoming 2013 Pepsi ICC East Asia-Pacific Men's Championship in Auckland, New Zealand from 3-7 February.

This tournament forms part of the qualification process for the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh with the winner advancing to a global qualifying event later this year in Dubai.

The seven teams that will compete in Auckland are Japan, Indonesia, Samoa, Fiji, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and the 2011 champions PNG.

"With six spots open for Associate & Affiliate Members at the 2014 World T20 in Bangladesh there is plenty at stake to be crowned East Asia-Pacific regional champion," said the ICC East Asia-Pacific Regional Development Manager Kieran McMillan. "The winner in Auckland will give themselves a very real chance of then launching themselves onto the game's biggest stage for T20 cricket."

The tournament will be hosted by Auckland Cricket in partnership with the ICC East Asia-Pacific and sees an East Asia-Pacific regional event returning to New Zealand for the first time since 2007.

"As cricket strives to be a bigger, better global game it is critical that we tap into the support of our neighbouring Full Member countries," said McMillan. "I am excited that Auckland Cricket will set a benchmark of professionalism in its hosting of the ICC EAP Men's Championships and provide high quality facilities befitting of an international tournament that showcases the ever-improving standard of cricket in the region."

Auckland Cricket CEO Mark Cameron reiterated the thoughts of McMillan also offering his support for the event.

"This tournament is a unique platform for teams to compete against quality opponents from the East Asia-Pacific region and we are delighted to have been afforded the opportunity to host a tournament of this calibre," he said.

The tournament begins on Sunday 3rd of February with the final played on Thursday the 7th of February. All matches will be played at Waikaraka Park, in Auckland.
