Trevor Langa (Vanuatu) - 20 year old Right Hand Batsmen and Wicketkeeper

Young Trevor Langa will take over as the regions first choice wicket keeper when he takes the field in Albury to represent the East Asia - Pacific team after years of been in the shadows of PNG's Ipi Morea who retired earlier this year after Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 3.

Langa had an opportunity in the last Australian Country Cricket Championships (ACCC) after being considered the 'project player' and was in the 11 for the last two matches against Western Australia and New South Wales. It was a tough start to his EAP career after failing with the bat in both his innings and having to keep for an almighty 140 odd overs against NSW, but this is the challenge the young Vanuatu player likes and will only benefit from the experience.

Langa attended the EAP Squad camp again and all of sudden has become almost a senior player after six players were missing from 2008-09. He impressed in all the practice matches with his athletic and sound keeping and low order batting to finish the innings off, he become the camps leading run-scorer and will no doubt look to take this into the ACCC in January.

Coach Charlie Burke commented: "Trevor is a talent and has the work ethic you expect from a international cricketer, he has learned a lot from the past two years and will no doubt show why he is now considered the regions best wicket-keeping batsmen by a strong performance in Albury. It helps Trevor that his good friend and national captain Andrew Mansale is now the EAP skipper as I think it gives him a sense of belonging in the side along with his outstanding performances in the EAP squad camp a few weeks ago in Brisbane."

"Trevor technically has areas to work on like any player but he has tightened up his defense as well as his scoring areas, he uses his feet to spinners and plays the pace bowlers better than 12 months ago. His keeping has become a lot more consistent and will really enjoy the challenge of being EAP's number one keeper," Burke said.

The ACCC starts on 3 January when EAP will take on Victoria in a Twenty20 match.
