ICC East Asia - Pacific Advanced Coaching & Development Seminar Begins in Melbourne

The International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia – Pacific (EAP) Development Program 5th Annual Advanced Coaching & Development Seminar for 2008 has kicked off today in Melbourne.

The 5-day course is a key component in the process to achieve sustainable cricket education within the EAP region and includes an ICC Level 1 coaching Cricket Instructors Course.

Nominations were received from many ICC EAP Member Countries, and 9 highly regarded coaches were selected from an extremely strong pool to attend. The participants are:

PNG – John Ovia & Rarua Dikana

Vanuatu – Richard Tatwin and Aby Joel John

Japan – Jummei Hanada & Nigel Dixon

Fiji – Seci Sekinini

Indonesia – Melvin Ndoen

Tonga - Sione Hamala

The ICC EAP have been able to gain access to world class facilities through Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Cricket Club and wish to thank these organisations for their fantastic support of cricket development in the EAP region.

As part of the seminar, there are also many highly skilled and qualified cricket coaches and professionals presenting to the group on a range of topics. The presenters include former Australian cricketer and current South Australian Cricket Association Training and Education Coordinator Andrew Zesers, Cricket Victoria Pathways & Lifestyle Cricket Manager Rohan O’Neil, Vic Spirit Head Coach Ken Davis, former Australian Paralympian Don Elgin, Vanuatu National player Pierre Chilia & ICC EAP employees Charlie Burke & Nick Frayne.

The ICC EAP Strategic Plan has a strong focus on developing quality cricket coaches in the EAP region, and the Advanced Coaching & Development Seminar is a major part of building sustainable coach development practises.
