ICC Integrity support a wide range of global events, which extends from ICC events to franchise leagues and bilateral cricket. Prior to the start of an event, the IC HQ assists in upholding the integrity of the event though education, training and guidance. In addition, when required, ACMs are deployed for intelligence collection and investigations.

This year, we have been the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for four franchise events and various bilateral series’.In addition, a team has been deployed to India to cover the ICC Men’s CWC 2023. The work that goes into supporting the integrity of an ICC World Cup versus a franchise league differs slightly but is ultimately the same. With all events we cover, the intelligence, investigations and ACM support, the flow of information and products produced, and the key points briefed at an education session are the same, the risk however, differs from event to event.

One significant similarity in all events is the risk period leading up to event. Grooming, suspicious contacts and corrupt approaches are all common prior to any event happening, no matter the level. Suspicious contacts can come from complete strangers or those within cricket, such as team or league owners. This is why raising awareness through education prior to the start of an event is vital.

A risk that is specific to Members, is last minute bilateral series/tournaments and domestic events where preparations are not adequate. The exposure of corruptors targeting events such as these is heightened given they are less resourced owing to time constraints are perceived as more easily accessible.

The ICC must be notified of international series and tournaments as soon as possible. Please inform the ICC of any franchise leagues – the ACU is here to help and guide when required.
