Italy brushed aside Scotland by 12 runs in a monumental to move one step closer to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
Despite the euphoria of victory for Jersey, it does not guarantee qualification for next year's tournament, with their fate dependent on the result of Italy against the Netherlands.
Italy, riding high after their epic win over Scotland, sit at the top of the table and face Netherlands in the second fixture of the day.

Crunching the Net Run Rate Numbers
The result of the Jersey/Scotland match has made the net run rate equation simpler to keep up with, though will only apply if Italy lose to The Netherlands in the afternoon fixture.
The only downside to Jersey's success was the small margin of victory, meaning it would take a big Italy defeat for the Channel Islanders to progress over the Azzurri. An Italian win will send them and Jersey through.
A net run rate calculation will only be properly made once the first innings of the second match is played, but ballpark figures have Italian progressing even in a defeat of 44 runs or fewer, or having their total chased down slower than early in the 15th over.
