ICC Technical Committee to discuss WICB request for reinstatement of Marlon Samuels

The ICC Cricket World Cup Technical Committee will meet today, to discuss the West Indies Cricket Board request that Marlon Samuels be reinstated to the West Indies squad.

Samuels was an original member of the West Indies 15-man squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003, but was withdrawn following an injury, and replaced by Ryan Hinds.

The West Indies Board has requested that Samuels be reintroduced to the squad, following further reports it has received from medical advisers. The Technical Committee will meet

with representatives of the WICB to consider the application. The ICC Technical Committee consists of the following people:

Malcolm Speed, ICC Chief Executive, Chairman, or his nominee

Dr Ali Bacher, Executive Director, ICC Cricket World Cup 2003

Campbell Jamieson, IDI Commercial Manager

Brian Basson, United Cricket Board of South Africa

Sunil Gavaskar, independent member

Michael Holding, independent member

Media will be informed of the Technical Committee's decision by email media release.
