ICC U19 Men's CWC: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Canada & Bangladesh quotes
Pakistan captain Qasim Akram said: “I’m very happy with the winning streak and hopefully we will finish the tournament with a winning streak.
“I had no doubt we could defend 239 even though there were partnerships in between. We kept at it and in the end won the game.
“I think that we are equally good with both bat and ball. When it comes to bowling, the fast bowlers are picking up wickets and so are the spinners. The batters are also picking up runs as well.
“I’m very happy with the fielding effort, especially the first run out as that made a huge difference and lifted the whole team up and from then on the fielders were very good at stopping those singles on the field.”
Afghanistan captain Suliman Safi said: “It was a very close game but the match turning point is the three run outs because we had two set batters get run out, that was the turning point.
“I believe the bowlers bowled really well and this was a great game, and we are looking forward to the next match.
“We have a good batting side and bowling side, that is why we are very comfortable here and next match we have a chance to qualify for the quarter-final matches.”
Canada captain Mihir Patel said:“I think Anoop [Chima] is a big bonus, he’s been playing really, really well, giving us good starts every single game.
“I think it was important for him to get a longer knock today which he did but unfortunately it ended short around 60-odd. I think well batted to him for the first three games.
“In the bowling department, I think Parmveer [Kharoud] has been bowling really well along with Kairav Sharma. They are our two standout bowlers, so congratulations to them.
“I think we are bowling and batting well in patches, but I think to win a game we need to do that for longer.
“There’s 100 overs in a game, so you need to play good cricket for close to 85/90 overs and we haven’t been doing that so far, so that’s something we will be looking to improve upon.
“I think the quality of cricket is something that we are not always used to back home in Canada, but I think it’s always a learning experience.
“So, I’d say we will try to raise our standard and use that experience to play better cricket.”
Bangladesh captain Rakibul Hasan said:“I think with the bowling we did well today, which is good for us as a bowling unit. We have been a very good bowling unit since the beginning of our camp, so we are happy with it.
“The last game is very important for us and maybe we need to improve the fielding side. If we want to win this game, we need to field well, so we want to improve our fielding and our other skills as well.”
