ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy Day 3 wrap

Netherlands, Uganda, Scotland and Thailand registered victories on Day 3 of the ICC Women's Emerging Nations Trophy 2025.

Uganda v Papua New Guinea

The cool of Janet Mbabazi and Uganda prevailed at the Terdthai Cricket Ground, closing out with a final-over victory against Papua New Guinea, and their first win at the tournament.

Crafty with her medium pace to ensure her side defended 117, Mbabazi was also the rock of her side's batting effort, making an unbeaten 60 not out from 58 balls in tricky conditions.

The skipper hit five fours and a six in the knock, over half the boundaries in her side's effort. Immaculate Nakisuuyi (20) supported Mbabazi in a partnership of 49, as four of PNG's six bowlers finished with an economy of under a run a ball.

In reply, PNG found scoring difficult with the pace taken off, with only Pauke Siaka (39 off 23 balls) able to up the ante.

It looked as if the Lewas all-rounder had done enough for PNG, though the return of Kevin Amuge (2/11 off four) and the consistency of Malisa Ariokot (1/21 off four) tied things up at the other end.

Captain Mbabazi opted to bowl herself for the final over, claiming the wicket of Siaka and holding Erani Pokana and Hane Tau at bay.

Tanzania v Netherlands

The Dutch flexed their muscles on day three of the tournament, bowling Tanzania out for just 62 and powering past the target in quick time for a second consecutive victory and a net run rate boost.

Quick Iris Zwilling tormented the Tanzanian top order with early wickets of Saum Mtae and the dangerous Katuma Kibasu, before returning to remove Perice Kamunya in the 17th over to deny any death-over exploits.

It was Silver Siegers to keep the Dutch in control in the middle overs, claiming 2/13 from her four overs, before the likes of Hannah Landheer and Frederique Overdijk cleaned up the tail with two wickets apiece.

The Dutch did not stumble in their response, with Sterre Kalis' 24 taking the sting out of Tanzania's bowling effort. Robine Rijke (13 not out) and Frederique Overdijk (16 not out) closed out the chase inside 13 overs.
