ICC Women's Player of the Month for December 2023 revealed

India's premier all-rounder has been announced as the ICC Women's Player of the Month for December 2023.

India's Deepti Sharma has been announced as the Women's Player of the Month for December 2023. The all-rounder warded off competition from teammate Jemimah Rodrigues and 41-year-old Precious Marange, who starred in Zimbabwe's Africa Region Qualifier for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024.

Deepti's best came in the two Test matches in December against England and Australia, but she also played a starring role in an ODI against Australia.

Deepti delivered a standout performance in India's Test victory over England, showcasing her prowess in both batting and bowling.

In the two Tests played during the month, she amassed an impressive 165 runs, averaging 55 with the bat. Her bowling was equally remarkable, claiming 11 wickets at an average of just 10.81.

In the Test against England, batting at No.7, Deepti scored a vital 67. Her bowling was a key factor in India's win, as she took 5 wickets for 7 runs and 4 for 32, totalling nine wickets in the match.

Her exceptional five-wicket haul in the first innings was crucial, as it led to England collapsing from 108/3 to being all out for 136.

In the Test match against Australia, Deepti significantly contributed to India's impressive performance.

She took the crucial wicket of Australian captain Alyssa Healy, demonstrating her skill with the ball in these conditions. With the bat, Deepti played a pivotal role, scoring a crucial 78 from down the order, which was instrumental in establishing India's lead.

Her impact extended into the ODIs as well. In the second ODI, Deepti showcased her bowling prowess by taking a five-wicket haul, effectively restricting Australia to a total of 258/8.

During the three T20 International matches against England in the same month, Deepti maintained commendable bowling efficiency. She conceded runs at just 5.88 runs per over, highlighting her consistent and controlled bowling style in the shorter format of the game.
