'I'll never get too disappointed' – Chris Lynn on ODI omission

Lynn has been a sensation in the ongoing Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat, but he hasn't yet announced himself on the international stage. In the four ODIs he has played so far, he has scored just 75 runs at an average of 18.75, and in the recent Twenty20 Internationals against India, he returned modest scores of 37, 13 and 13.

All of which meant Lynn wasn't too surprised when he was left out of Australia's squad for the upcoming ODIs against India. In fact, he wasn't too disappointed either.

"I didn't put the runs on the board and, look, there's plenty of other guys out there scoring runs," Lynn told Macquarie Radio. "I never get too far ahead of myself (and) the main thing is I'm having fun playing cricket for the Brisbane Heat.

"Playing for Australia is a bonus. I'll never get too disappointed – obviously you get a little disappointed if you're dropped – but I have no expectation that I'm locked in for that side, because I didn't put the runs on the board. I knew it was going to be 50-50 and it is what it is. I really enjoy my cricket for the Heat so I'm okay with it."

Lynn also talked up some of his Queensland team-mates for spots in the Australia Test side. He was particularly effusive in his praise for Matt Renshaw.

"There's two blokes in our side in Matthew Renshaw and Joe Burns who deserve a chance at the next level again ... hopefully the two Queensland boys can get it done because they're two quality players," said Lynn.

"[Renshaw is] the type of bloke that doesn’t always come to an optional training session, but that's because he knows his game inside out, he's happy to take on the spin like you have to.

"He's a little smart-arse, but I think that works for him. He puffs his chest out, he gives a lot of stick out, but he cops it too, and is happy to move forward with it. He's got to play Test cricket. He's the best batsman in Australia in the longer format of the game, and down the track, I think he can play all formats for Australia."
