'I’m a very happy captain' – Heather Knight after England's 10th straight victory

Sri Lanka were defeated by 96 runs in the third T20I in Colombo on Thursday, 28 March, after England posted a mammoth 204, and victory meant England won both the ODIs and the T20Is 3-0.

Knight said it was harder than the scoreline suggested. "We have made it look easier here. But it isn’t. It has been hard work," she said. "I’m a very happy captain at the moment. I've been delighted with how ruthless we've been. We talked about imposing ourselves on Sri Lanka and being clinical and we've done that throughout the ODI and the T20I series."

England crossed the 200-run mark after Danielle Wyatt and Amy Ellen Jones, the openers, both scored quick fifties. That was in keeping with the top-order batters' splendid form throughout the series, and they were ably supported by strong, consistent performances from the bowlers.

Knight picked out Jones for special praise. "It's been so pleasing that a number of different players have stood up at different times," she said. "Amy Jones has been fantastic, but everyone has contributed throughout the trip and that bodes well as we look to increase competition for places and strength in depth."

The victory was England's 10th consecutive win across formats – their fifth-best in terms of win streaks – and they will hope to maintain this form when they take on the West Indies. "The girls showed a lot of character, especially coming back from the two losses from the first two games in India," said Knight. "Then winning ten on the bounce, it’s been brilliant.

"It sets us up really nicely for a massive summer. We are hosting the West Indies and the Ashes is coming up. Obviously it's great to have won 10 in a row and we want to keep that run going for as long as possible."
