Impressive gains for England T20I stars in Men's Rankings

A host of performers across formats and continents gained big in the ICC Men's Player Rankings.

International cricket in the Men's format saw big gains for performers from the T20I series between England and India in England, the ODI series between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in Zimbabwe, and the Tests between West Indies and Sri Lanka in West Indies.

England furthered their advantage over India over the last week, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20I series after the first game was washed out.

The second game saw impressive hitting from Jacob Bethell, who hit 76* off 46 to secure a four-wicket English win. Bethell gained seven spots in the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings and is into the top ten places at No.8.

Sam Curran who picked 3/33 in the second game, and smashed 41* in England's thumping win in the third, gained 12 places in the batting rankings to sit at 108, and an equal number of spots to make it at 71st place in the bowling rankings. His efforts saw him take an equal 13th place in the all-rounder rankings, picking up by six places.

England's second successive win was a record outing, as they outdid India by 125 runs, giving the latter their biggest-ever loss in T20Is.

Adil Rashid's 2/14 in this win helped him enter the top three places in the T20I bowling rankings gaining one spot, while Josh Tongue, who picked a four-wicket haul in just his second T20I outing sits at equal 301st spot. 

Will Jacks was also impactful over the series, and picked two key wickets, gaining six spots in the T20I All-Rounder Rankings in the process to break into the Top 10 at No.7.

India's new T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer, might not have the best of starts to his captaincy tenure, but impressed with 68 in the first game, which was washed out, followed by a 37 in the next. He gained 425 spots and sits at equal 93rd in the batting rankings.

In the Test arena, West Indies saw off Sri Lanka's massive first innings total in the second Test, and batted with determination in the final innings to secure a draw. Having won the first Test by an innings and 217 runs, this gave them the hold of the Sobers-Tissera Trophy.

Sri Lanka opener Lahiru Udara led the way for the island nation with a career-best 188, and gained 52 spots in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings, and now sits at 85.

Also impressive was Kamindu Mendis, who scored 128 runs across two innings in the high-scoring draw. He gained two places in the Test Batting Rankings to grab the 6th spot.

Asitha Fernando was the only bowler to secure a five-for from either side on a good batting track, and gained two spots to sit at No.20 in the ICC Men's Test Bowling Rankings.

Justin Greaves was the star for the West Indies, smashing his third Test ton, a feisty 180 to rescue the hosts after they were 144/4 in pursuit of Sri Lanka 549/9 declared. He gains 14 spots in the ICC Men's Test Batting Rankings and sits at No.49.

Shai Hope partnered with him, and contributed with a 112 of his own, and gains six places, sitting at 51st spot in the Test Batting Rankings.

In the ODI arena, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh performers gained big from the first ODI at Harare. Nahid Rana's career-best 6/21 in the game skittled the hosts for 141, and he's closing in on the Top 10 spots, sitting at No.12 now with 17 gains in the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings.

Zimbabwe's pacers Richard Ngarava, Brad Evans and Blessing Muzarabani, however, ensured that the total would prove to be enough, sharing eight wickets amongst them in helpful conditions to beat the Tigers by 25 runs. 

The trio gained in the ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings, with Evans jumping 17 spots to reach 111, while Ngarava improving his place to gain one spot onto the 19th position. Muzarabani jumped 17 spots and is now at the 33rd rank.
