India's Shafali Verma was found to have breached the Article 2.2 of the  ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Verma’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period.

The incident occured in the 12th over of the first innings of the second T20I between India and Zimbabwe in Raipur on 18 October, Sunday.

After dropping Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano at mid-off off Sree Charani’s bowling, Shafali Verma threw the ball into the ground in frustration.

Verma admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by G.S. Lakshmi of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

After a close face-off in the first T20I, India secured an unassailable series lead in Raipur with a strong display in the second match. The tourists were reduced to 102/8 before India closed off the chase in the ninth over mark. Shafali played a starring role with the bat, hitting 55 off merely 25 balls.

The third T20I between the two sides takes place today on 20 October in Raipur.
