India gets campaign off in style

Host India got its campaign off to a winning start in the T20 World Cup 2012 for the Blind on Sunday, the opening day of the tournament at the Kanteerava Stadium.

In the tournament being played at Bengaluru, India beat Australia by 215 runs. In the other games Pakistan beat England by 66 runs and Sri Lanka got the better of South Africa by seven wickets.

Nepal had the easiest win on the opening day beating Bangladesh in just eight overs.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by legendary India leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrashekar on Saturday, 1 December.

This is the first ever T20 World Cup for Blind and will witness nine countries battling it out for the trophy from 2 to 13 December.

Besides host India, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Nepal are participating in the tournament.

Interestingly, Nepal, for the first time in the history of blind cricket, are fielding two female players.
