India level series 1-1
England were bowled out for 158 as it went down to a heavy defeat in the second ODI against India at Kochi. Chasing 286 to win, England had a chance while Kevin Pietersen (42) and Joe Root (36) were at the crease but England never recovered after 22-year-old seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-29) took the wickets of Pietersen and Eoin Morgan within the space of three balls. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the arguably the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 7-1-12-2 to go with his 37-ball 61. Late-hitting by Samit Patel was to no avail as India won by 127 runs.
Earlier England looked like they would keep India to under 250 after pegging them back to 174-5 in the 40th over. Steven Finn and Jade Dernbach were impressive up front and England's two spinners bowled tidy 10-over spells in the middle. But Suresh Raina (55 off 78 balls), MS Dhoni (72 off 66) and Jadeja all made fifties as England conceded 103 runs in the last nine overs.
