India fast bowler Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan and the Asian Games 2026.

Rana, who was progressing well in his recovery from a hamstring injury picked up during the tour of England, sustained a strain while bowling during a match simulation on September 7, the BCCI confirmed in a statement.

Yash Thakur has been named as his replacement in both squads. The 27-year-old recently made his T20I debut during India’s tour of Zimbabwe in July, taking four wickets in two matches.

Rana was initially named subject to fitness clearance when India announced their squads earlier this month. Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy were also named subject to fitness at the time.
