India set for Sri Lanka Test challenge
India will return to Sri Lanka for their first Test series in eight years as both sides look to strengthen their position in the ICC World Test Championship standings.
India are set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series beginning on August 15, with both matches forming part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle.
The opening Test will be played in Galle from August 15, before the action shifts to the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo for the second and final Test from August 23.
The series marks India's first Test assignment in Sri Lanka since their dominant 3-0 clean sweep in 2017.
India head into the series after an impressive outing against Afghanistan in early June, where they secured a convincing innings victory. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, are currently in the Caribbean for a two-match Test series against the West Indies and will be aiming to bounce back after suffering a heavy defeat in the opener.
With valuable World Test Championship points at stake, both teams will have plenty to play for.
India currently sit fifth in the standings, with Sri Lanka one place behind in sixth, making the upcoming series an important opportunity for both sides to close the gap on the leading teams in the race for a place in the WTC Final.
Series schedule:
First Test: August 15-19, Galle
Second Test: August 23-27, Colombo
