England vs India, third T20I

The visitors have showcased brilliant bowling and fielding efforts on this England tour, which boosted their confidence to take games down to the wire.

The proof of that is in the three successful run-outs they executed in the second T20I to remove Natalie Sciver, Heather Knight, and Sophia Dunkley, who have looked threatening throughout the tour.

Despite the T20I series being tied up, India is a win behind on the tour which means that this is a do-or-die game for them and the final chance to square the outcome.

Remember the last time:

India, batting first, started off briskly with Shafali Verma tonking Katherine Brunt for five consecutive fours in the fourth over. Thereafter, crucial contributions from Harmanpreet Kaur (31) and Deepti Sharma (24*) took India to a score of 148/4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the third-wicket partnership of 75 off 67 deliveries between Tammy Beaumont (59) and Heather Knight (30) had taken England on the verge of yet another victory. But a collapse sparked by Poonam Yadav and Deepti Sharma pulled England back from 106/2 to 140/8, giving India a victory by 8 runs.

What they said:

Heather Knight (England captain):“As a batting group we've got to be better, it was a good wicket, we need to take our singles and not put pressure on the lower order. Strong line-up, but not been ruthless. Have to be better, and shouldn't be losing those games. We can't lose the series but we're desperate to win it. Credit to India, taking it to the last game, but we'll be looking to win the series in Chelmsford."

Harmanpreet Kaur (India captain):“I would give credit to our bowlers. Was very important on these wickets as the ball was coming nicely onto the bat. Credit to the fielders as well for doing well. We always want to win wherever we go.“
