Australia's injury woes continue in Africa, with Nathan Ellis and Joel Davis to miss the third ODI against South Africa due to injuries.

The blows compound Australia's tour injury woes, with Billy Stanlake (side strain sustained in Zimbabwe) and Josh Inglis (broken finger) having already flown home from the tour.

Ellis bowled four overs in the second ODI before leaving the field, and didn't return to bowl also with a side strain. Meanwhile, Davies, who was fielding as a substitute in the same game, strained his right hamstring.

Australia's Nathan Ellis makes early inroads with a double wicket over against Ireland at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.

Jack Edwards, who claimed his maiden ODI five-for in the second game at Johannesburg, is also being monitored for a hamstring concern, but was in the ODI squad on their 90-minute bus trip from Johannesburg to Potchefstroom.

With depleted personnel, Australia may field Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins for the third ODI against South Africa.

South Africa currently lead the series 2-0, having beaten Australia in the first two games.

Matthew Breetzke and the spinners secured an emphatic win in Durban, before centuries from Temba Bavuma and David Miller guided South Africa to a win in a high-scoring contest in Johannesburg.

The third ODI between the two sides will take place on 30 September in Potchefstroom.
