Injury blow for India ahead of second T20I with New Zealand
Left-handed batter Ishan Kishan sustained a low grade right adductor strain in the series opener and will miss the second contest.
Ishan Kishan will miss the second T20I against New Zealand owing to an injury sustained in the series opener on Thursday.
The BCCI confirmed in a statement that Kishan is ruled out of the second T20I against New Zealand due to a low-grade right adductor strain, which he picked up during the first T20I of the series.
Kishan had featured in a historic win for India, as they chased down their highest-ever total in men's T20I history.
The BCCI will be monitoring his progress as the visitors look to strengthen their 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
Having been tasked with a daunting chase of 226 in Christchurch during the series opener, India chased down the total with four wickets in hand and two deliveries to spare.
Openers Sanju Samson (67) and Abhishek Sharma (29) laid the foundation, while meaningful contributions from Shreyas Iyer (42), Naman Dhir (42*) and Axar Patel (24) saw India wrap up a famous triumph.
The two teams will next square off on Saturday at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, with New Zealand eager to pull one back.
