Injury blow for India as young star is ruled out of CWC25

Injury concerns for hosts India ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

Wicket-keeper-batter Yastika Bhatia has been ruled out of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 owing to an injury to her left knee during the preparatory camp in Vizag.

In her place, Uma Chetry has been selected in the India squad for the marquee tournament. Chetry has thus far featured in seven T20Is and is yet to make her ODI debut.

She'll also be replacing Bhatia in India's squad for the ODI series against Australia that precedes the Women's Cricket World Cup.

India’s updated squad for ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Richa Ghosh (wk), Kranti Gaud, Amanjot Kaur, Radha Yadav, Sree Charani, Sneh Rana, Uma Chetry

India will miss an in-form Bhatia's firepower down the order which had given the side an experienced back-up finisher for Richa Ghosh.

The keeper-batter, who wasn't included in the ODI series against England, got a chance to prove herself in the India A series against Australia A, guiding her team to a 2-1 win in the three-match ODI series, with scores of 59, 66, and 42.

Having been part of 28 ODIs so far, Bhatia had last played for India in October last year.
