Injury to pacer forces Zimbabwe change ahead of England Test
A like-for-like replacement has been named as Zimbabwe prepare for their first Test outing against England since 2003.
Zimbabwe have been forced to make a change to their squad ahead of their one-off Test against England, with fast bowler Tanaka Chivanga brought in to replace the injured Trevor Gwandu.
Gwandu has been ruled out of the upcoming fixture after sustaining a left groin strain during a training session ahead of the Test match in Nottingham.
In his stead, 31-year-old Chivanga makes a timely return to the national side.
The right-arm quick last featured in the longest format against Ireland in Belfast in 2024, where he sustained an injury that had kept him sidelined since. Chivanga has three wickets in two Tests for Zimbabwe so far.
Zimbabwe are scheduled to take on England in a one-off Test from 22 to 25 May 2025 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham - an occasion that marks the two teams facing off in the longest format for the first time since their meeting at the Chester-le-Street in June 2003, when England emerged victorious by an innings and 69 runs.
The visitors arrive into the contest on the back of a closely contested two-Test series in Bangladesh, where Zimbabwe won their first Test against the Tigers since 2018.
