Ireland leg-spinner Ben White has officially announced his retirement from representative cricket at the age of 28.

White finishes his international career with 41 wickets for Ireland across all three formats, having made his final appearance against Bangladesh in December 2025.

He first came through the pathway during the Ireland Wolves' tour of Bangladesh in early 2021 before making his senior international debut later that same year.

A tall, angular wrist-spinner, White was selected in Ireland's squads for three ICC Men’s T20 World Cups (2021, 2024, and 2026).

While he featured across Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, it was in the shortest format where he proved most effective.

His ability to blend flight with sharp changes of pace saw him average a wicket every 20 balls in T20I cricket, headlined by a career-best spell of 4/20 against Afghanistan in 2024.

At the domestic level, White enjoyed a standout career starring for Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights, Munster Reds, Phoenix, and CSNI—headlined by leading the 2021 Inter-Provincial T20 Trophy wickets chart with 17 scalps and delivering a match-winning 5/34 in the 2024 Irish Senior Cup final.

Reflecting on his decision, White expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country on the big stage.

"I’d like to thank Cricket Ireland for giving me the opportunity to fulfil a childhood dream of representing my country and playing cricket at the highest level," White said.

"Representing Ireland at three ICC T20 World Cups and playing Test cricket definitely wasn’t on the bingo card, but it’s something I’ll always be incredibly proud of."

"I’ll be forever grateful for the experiences and memories I’ve made along the way," he added.
