Italy makes short work of Oman

Michael De Venuto and Peter Petricola put on 84 runs for an unbroken second wicket partnership which helped Italy to record a convincing nine wickets victory over Oman in a Group B match of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2012 at the ICC Global Cricket Academy, No.1, Dubai Sports City on Tuesday.

De Venuto scored 42 and Petricola chipped with 39 as Italy achieved a 90-run target with nine wickets and six overs to spare.

De Venuto's faced 40 balls during his innings, which included five fours, while Petricola hit three fours in a 43-ball knock.

Earlier, fast bowler Carl Sandri returned outstanding bowling figures of 4-0-9-4 which restricted Oman to a paltry 89-9 and later earned him the man of the match award. He was well supported by Gareth Berg two for 22.
