The Japan Cricket Association (JCA) has announced that Nigel Dixon has been appointed as Development Manager. Mr. Dixon's responsibilities will include development operations and domestic competition operations.

Nigel came to Japan in 2006 and took up an English language teaching job in Sendai City in the Tohoku (North-East) region. Since then he has greatly contributed to the development of cricket in the region as a volunteer, establishing the Sendai Cricket Club and the Tohoku Regional Tournament, with participating teams from Sendai, Morioka, Akita, and Yamagata.

Mr. Dixon also attended the ICC EAP Advanced Coaching and Development Seminar in Melbourne in 2008, and has since held an ICC EAP Level 1 Coach Accreditation Course in Tokyo. Mr. Dixon also took charge of the Japanese National Under 19 Team as Team Manager for the 2009 Pepsi ICC EAP U19 Cricket Trophy held in Port Moresby, PNG in June.

Key focuses of Mr. Dixon's role are developing cricket in local communities, coach education and establishing a domestic competition structure that accommodates all ages and standards and has the capacity to continue the outstanding development work already in progress across Japan. Mr. Dixon's role is a critical part of further developing projects in such areas.

Mr. Dixon commented, "I am thoroughly looking forward to further developing my skills in these areas and making a major contribution to a sport I am passionate about in a country I love".
