Jersey play host to Middlesex County Cricket Club
Middlesex County Cricket Club is pleased to announce it's summer tour of Jersey, which will involve two games, including a t20 match against the Jersey national cricket team. The Island participates in the ICC World and European competition and currently plays in ICC World Cricket League Division Six.
The tour is being proudly supported by Brooks Macdonald, the wealth management group and principal sponsors of Middlesex. Brooks Macdonald recently acquired Spearpoint, the Jersey and Guernsey based provider of discretionary fund management with stock broking and retirement planning capabilities, which has been rebranded as Brooks Macdonald.
As well as the MCCC vs Jersey match, the tour will involve another t20 game, MCCC against the Brooks Macdonald Select XI; the latter team will be made up of a blend of Jersey and MCCC players chosen by Brooks Macdonald. In addition a junior coaching session with Middlesex players will take place the day before the opening t20 match.
The tour is taking place from the 24-26th June and will represent a perfect warm up for both Middlesex ahead of the start of county cricket's Friends Life t20 2013 competition, with their opening fixture against Kent on 28th June, and Jersey in their involvement in the ICC European Division 1 tournament scheduled a month later.
The current Middlesex squad includes a number of top international players including England's Joe Denly, Steve Finn and Eoin Morgan, Australia's Chris Rogers and Adam Voges, Ireland's Paul Stirling and West Indies' Corey Collymore, many of who are expected to join the tour.
Supporters will be able to watch both t20 matches free of charge courtesy of Brooks Macdonald, with the games taking place at Grainville and Farmers Field, St Martins respectively.
Sponsorship and commercial opportunities will be available to help promote the tour and interested parties should contact Brooks Macdonald to discuss.
Vinny Codrington, Chief Executive of Middlesex County Cricket Club, commented: 'Touring Jersey is a real first for Middlesex and one we are very excited about. It's the perfect warm up ahead of the Friends Life t20 competition in which we expect to be really competitive. We are sure Jersey will give us a good test.'
Chris Macdonald, Chief Executive of Brooks Macdonald, added, We are very excited to be supporting this tour and bringing the Middlesex team to Jersey. Following our recent expansion in Jersey and Guernsey, it is great to be able to give the opportunity for Jersey players to experience the best of county cricket.
"I'm sure it will be a great few days for all the teams involved, for local cricket enthusiasts as well as the local school children who will benefit from the coaching sessions."
Chris Minty, Chief Executive of Jersey Cricket, added, "We are delighted to welcome Middlesex to the Island. Their presence will give a major boost to local cricket. It is only by playing the best that we will get better.
"We continue to be highly ambitious for Jersey cricket and Middlesex's tour is a real endorsement for us."
