Jess Duffin named captain of first-ever WBBL Team of the Tournament

The side was picked by a selection panel comprising the head of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson, Australia women's team head coach Matthew Mott, former Australian captain Belinda Clark, former players Lisa Sthalekar and Mel Jones, commentator Alister Nicholson and journalist Laura Jolly.

Renegades skipper Duffin, who has been in a red-hot form this season, has been named as the captain of the team. Her team-mates Danielle Wyatt and Molly Strano are the other two star players to feature in the XI.

The top two run-getters of the tournament's league stage, Beth Mooney of Brisbane Heat and Sophie Devine of Adelaide Strikers, have been slotted into the opening spots. Devine, who has excelled with both bat and ball this year, has also been named Player of the Tournament.

From Perth Scorchers, only their skipper, Meg Lanning, who scored her first WBBL century this season, found a place in the team while Belinda Vakarewa, the joint-highest wicket-taker, is the only player to feature from Hobart Hurricanes.

Sydney Sixers all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Marizanne Kapp, and Strikers' Megan Schutt and Heat's Jess Jonassen are the other players to make the cut, while Heat's Ashley Noffke has been named the coach of the team.
