JP thanks mother's sponsor

JP Duminy and his mother, Juanita, on Sunday expressed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Cape Town businessman Simon Mantell for sponsoring her trip to Australia to watch the third cricket Test against Australia in Sydney.

“I would like to personally and publically thank Mr Mantell for his wonderful gesture,” JP said. “It has been very exciting for me to have my mother here to share what has been a very special Christmas and New Year for me.”

Mr. Mantell did not just sponsor the air ticket but went to a lot of trouble to secure a visa at very short notice.

“It has all happened so quickly,” Juanita said. “I watched the first two Tests on TV and got so excited that I broke a lampshade. To be here and see JP in live action, including watching his first Test match wicket, has been very special. I expect I will get a bit nervous when he bats – I always do – but it has been the best present I could have received, particularly as it came as a complete surprise.”
