Kardinia Park Stadium
Kardinia Park Stadium is one of Victoria’s most impressive stadiums and recent redevelopment of the venue has allowed it to evolve into one of Australia’s leading regional venues and a first-class cricket facility.
It was built in 1941, and has been the home of the Australian Football League side Geelong Cats, and many other domestic and international sporting contests.
The stadium, which seats just over 30,000 people, is the heart and soul of the Kardinia Park Precinct, a community hub that also features netball and aquatic facilities, as well as ample park space and playgrounds.
In recent years, Kardinia Park has welcomed the Big Bash League, international T20 matches, soccer friendlies, super rugby and Nitro Circus as part of its annual events calendar.
Sri Lanka will play all their First Round matches in Geelong, providing a great opportunity for fans to explore the area around all three match days! Joining Sri Lanka will be Ireland, Papua New Guinea and Oman in Group A with the top two teams to progress to the Super 12.
Venture to Victoria’s second-largest city, Geelong. Less than an hour away from Melbourne, the waterfront town has reinvented its industrial spaces into creative hubs, urban precincts and hip eateries. For a fresh catch, head to The Little Mussel Café in Portarlingtonand wash it down with a bottle of **Flying Brick Cider Co.**Wine enthusiasts can stop by Terindah Estatefor coastal views, whilst gin-lovers can opt for the casual **Bellarine Distillery/The Whiskery,**where gin cocktails are paired with tasting boards of local produce or pizzas.
Experience two very different sides of the coast in Geelong and the Bellarine. Geelong lies by the calm waters of Port Phillip Bay whilst further west, the beaches are exposed to the open sea of Bass Strait.
Originally built in the 1930’s, Geelong’s Eastern Beach Reserveis popular in warm weather with families. It features an enclosed sea bath, children’s pool, terraced lawns and more.
Keen surfers often head to Thirteenth Beach inBarwon Heads or further afield to **Torquay,**the first point along the breathtaking Great Ocean Road.

| Train | Geelong is approximately one hour from Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station, with Geelong Railway Station situated 1.8 kilometres to the north of the stadium and South Geelong Station located 450 metres to the east. | Car | Geelong is 75 kilometres from Melbourne via the Westgate Bridge and Princes Highway. In Geelong the Princes Highway becomes Latrobe Terrace (no turns required), making the stadium’s main entrance from Latrobe Terrace easily located. |
| Cycle | Bicycles are not permitted inside GMHBA Stadium or on the surrounding football ovals, however we do encourage this mode of transport using the paths provided. There are currently bike racks located out the front of the Kardinia Pool (Park Crescent) and the front of Sports House (Moorabool Street) with a vision to increase the number of racks in the near future. Patrons are required to supply their own lock. Simonds Stadium Management is not responsible for any loss or damage to bicycles secured on site. |
| Parking | Public car parking is available surrounding Kardinia Park. Please note, some car parks are closed in inclement weather. Limited parking is also available in the surrounding streets – please note Council Restrictions are enforced. A dedicated Bus Zone is located on Moorabool Street during non-AFL event days. The Bus Zone is signposted on the western side of Moorabool Street. Accessible parking is available within Kardinia Park (non-AFL match days) Moorabool St in front of Sports House A3 car park out the front of the Premiership Stand Park Cres in front of Kardinia Aquatic Centre Vehicles must display a valid accessible parking permit to obtain access. A drop-off zone is available near the A10 car park. |
| Drop Off & Pick Up (Taxi) | There are currently no formal taxi ranks located in Kardinia Park, however taxis can be booked at any time by phoning 131 008. |
SPECTATOR INFORMATION
"The following is a non-exhaustive list of items that are prohibited by law and are not permitted to enter the Stadium:
(a) illegal substances including controlled, dangerous or illicit drugs; and
(b) flares, fireworks, weapons, explosives and smoke bombs.
The following items are considered restricted and are not permitted to enter the Stadium:
(a) alcoholic beverages;
(b) glass bottles, cans and breakable containers;
(c) opened drink containers;
(d) missiles of any description;
(e) recreational equipment such as skateboards, rollerblades and bicycles;
(f) animals and pets (other than Assistance Dogs);
(g) laser pointers;
(h) non-accredited photographic equipment and recording devices for commercial purposes including audio and video equipment;
(i) confetti or shredded paper;
(j) flag poles composed of materials other than plastic or wood or greater than 1.5 metres in length;
(k) signs, banners, flags and clothing displaying offensive, political, National, racial or unauthorised commercial material;
(l) eskies, coolers and iceboxes too large to be stored under a seat;
(m) umbrellas cannot be opened whilst inside the Stadium and must be stored under a seat; and
(n) any item determined by KPST that may cause injury, a public nuisance or which is deemed dangerous to fellow spectators."
