Stafanie Taylor is the heart and soul of this Windies side, and despite being only 27 years of age, she has already accomplished so much for her country. One can scarcely picture a modern Windies women's side without her in it, such has been her influence across T20I and ODI cricket since making her debut as a 17-year old in 2008.

Taylor's climb to the elite is epitomised by her ICC Women's World T20 2016 campaign, where she scored 246 runs, notched eight wickets, took home the Player of the Tournament award and as skipper, guided her nation to their first ever T20I world title.

Her guile with the ball will be invaluable this time around as the home wickets promise to offer assistance to the spinners, while her consistency and dominant approach with the willow will strike fear in those who plan to topple her. As the MRF Tyres ICC Women's T20I no.1 ranked all-rounder, and the no.2 ranked batter in the format, there is good reason to believe that if Taylor fires, then the Windies have a real shot at retaining their title.

Halyey Matthews is not chosen as the 'one to watch' because she is unknown, but simply because she requires your attention. At just 20 years old, many cricketers would be happy with a starting position for their country in an international tournament, but Matthews has quickly shot up the ranks to become one of world cricket's most talked-about players.

She has had success in this competition before, blasting a match-winning 66 against Australia in the 2016 final to bring home the title for her nation, but this time around, expect an even more accomplished Matthews, one that has wreaked absolute havoc with the ball since helping Windies achieve world T20I domination when she was just 18. A devastating bowling average of 16.79 makes Matthews a salivating option for captain Taylor, and a wonderful run of form with the ball has seen her MRF Tyres ICC Women's T20I bowling ranking shoot up to no.3, while occupying the no.2 berth for all-rounders.

Her 2016 performance may have shocked some, but Windies now know that they have a real world-beating player on their hands, capable of doing wonderful things with both bat and ball. Should the West Indies retain the title and Matthews play a leading role once more, then her name will surely be etched alongside her country's greats, all before the tender age of 21.
