Knee injury puts Jess Jonassen out of action
Jonassen, 25, did her knee during an intra-squad warm-up game recently and will have to go under the knife, which might hurt her chances of making the cut for the ICC Women’s World T20 2018 in the Caribbean in November.
Jonassen, one of the more experienced Southern Stars players, has represented Australia in two Ashes Tests, 56 one-day internationals and 58 T20Is, picking up 122 wickets in the three formats.
Gutted to do my knee again and miss the T20 series vs NZ. Looking forward to cheering on my @SouthernStars teammates though in what’s sure to be a great series starting 29th Sept #WATCHME

She is also a useful batter, and though her numbers in ODIs (average of 16.87) and T20Is (15.84) are decent, she has two half-centuries in Test cricket, and her 177 runs have come at 59.
“Jess sustained a knee injury in Australia’s internal trial match on the Gold Coast this week. As a result, she will undergo arthroscopic surgery later in the week, when we will have a better idea of her return to play timeframe,” said team physiotherapist Kate Mahony when the Australian squad for the T20Is was announced.
