Kuwait scrapes into semi-finals of ACC T20

Kuwait claimed the last available spot in the semi-finals of the ACC Twenty20 Cup in the UAE despite losing its final group match to Oman on Saturday.

In losing the match to Oman by 86 runs, Kuwait was one of three teams in Group B to finish with six points from five matches but it edged out rivals Nepal and Malaysia on net-run-rate.

It means Kuwait will face Afghanistan, the winners of Group A, in Sunday's semi-final at Sharjah.

Afghanistan was one of three teams to have already qualified for the semi-finals with one match to spare but it cemented its status as the tournament favourite with a last ball one-wicket win over the UAE on Saturday that maintained its 100 per cent record in the event.

The other semi-final will see the host nation take on Group B winners, Oman, at Al Dhaid.
