Kyle Jamieson takes third-best T20 figures
Playing for Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash T20, Jamieson, 24, who has featured in 15 T20s since making his debut in 2016, helped bowl out Auckland Aces for 110 in 19 overs on Tuesday, 1 January. His team then chased the target down in 17.4 overs for a five-wicket win.
With his 6/7, Jamieson equalled the figures of Lasith Malinga, who achieved the feat in the Big Bash League, for Melbourne Stars against Perth Scorchers back in December 2012. Only Arun Suppiah (6/5) and Shakib Al Hasan (6/6) have better figures in the T20 game.

No New Zealand player has a better record than Jamieson in T20s either – Ish Sodhi had taken 6/11 in the Big Bash League. The previous domestic best was 6/28 shared by Ian Butler and Ben Laughlin.
The pacer got a wicket in his very first over, and followed it up with two more in the next. He then returned in the 18th over to take three wickets in four balls.
Through it all, he remained grounded, insisting he wasn't "a stats man". "It's a special day for myself but also a special day for us as a team, getting a win on the first day of the year is a pretty cool way to start," said Jamieson.

"I don't think I did anything differently. Just the same thing we talk about putting the processes in place in the days leading up to the game. It was a matter of doing that and it just seemed to work out for me today.
"I'm not a big stats man but [the record] is obviously a pretty cool thing, and I'll be able to look back on it in the days and weeks to come."
