Lanning stresses on 'adapting' after big warm-up win
"It is nice to get used to the conditions," Lanning said after the match on Tuesday, 6 November. "In the real games, we've got to make sure that we are adapting to come up against pretty challenging times there with the bat. I think it was really good for us to work out what we need to do for the game on Friday against Pakistan."

Batting first, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals and were 38/4 by 10.1 overs. Lanning then came to the rescue and powered her side to a total good enough to seal an easy victory in Guyana.
Lanning hit a blazing 51-ball 65* while Rachael Haynes remained unbeaten on 29 as the duo helped their side post 130/4.
The Australia captain admitted that the skiddy nature of the pitch was assisting the South Africa bowlers, making it a difficult surface to bat on. "Initially, it was really skiddy. The South Africa bowlers are generally like that bowling-wise, so the conditions probably helped that.
"You have to be willing to be patient [while batting] probably more so than you would in a normal T20 game. I think, overall, for our team, it's a really good learning curve for what we need to do come Friday.
"It was really important that we got going there. I think we picked up the bowlers really nicely. We do know that our batting line-up is really strong and even if we do lose early wickets, we've got other people to come in and do the job."

Lanning also credited her bowlers, who restricted South Africa to 84/9, and added that the uncapped 19-year-old pacer Tayla Vlaeminck, who returned impressive figures of 2/10 from her four-over spell, is 'absolutely' in contention for a T20I debut appearance on Friday against Pakistan.
"She has been bowling really quick in the nets so it was nice to see her bowling with pace today," Lanning said. "She is a weapon for us, especially on these wickets here where it's skiddy. She's going to be effective so it's great to see her do well. She came in and bowled really quick. She’s a wicket-taker and that’s what we want in our team."
The Australia captain was also happy to test her bowling line-up. "It was good (to see all the bowlers), there’s a couple who probably needed a few overs under their belt so being able to bowl a few different people was good," she said.
"If you got it right on the wickets, (the batters) really couldn’t do anything with it. You just had to respect it and wait for the right ball, so it’s a good learning curve for our bowling unit to make sure we’re keeping really tight lines."
