Latif hopeful of Afghan success

Afghanistan coach Rashid Latif is optimistic that his team will perform well at the Asian Games later this month in China.

"Our side has the potential to do well," said Rashid Latif, in an interview with ?the News'. Latif took over as the coach of Afghanistan earlier this year following the resignation of Kabir Khan.

"A gold medal is beyond us since I don't believe in miracles but if the team performed to its potential, we can give our opponents a scare."

Latif also welcomed the decision to improve cricket facilities in the country.

"The decision to build a new stadium in Afghanistan is positive news for the team," he said. "We need to play at home to get more involved in domestic cricket which is necessary.

"There should be two more international standard grounds and academies at Jalalabad and Kabul so that we can practice in a healthy environment."
