Laxman to play for Lancashire

India batsman VVS Laxman has signed up with English county Lancashire as the overseas player for the 2009 season.
Laxman, who also had a short stint with the club in 2007, is expected to rejoin after the 2009 IPL tournament and stay with the club for the rest of the season.
Lancashire Cricket manager Mike Watkinson expressed his pleasure after signing on the right hander.
“His contributions both on and off the field during his short stay in 2007 were outstanding and left a lasting impact on the players,” Watkinson was quoted as saying on the official web portal of the county club.
The 33-year-old is looking forward to his second stint after he scored a prolific 541 runs in 8 matches during his last spell with the county.
Presently, he is in Delhi with the Indian team which is playing Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
