Nashra Sandhu claimed two wickets in an over, dismissing Laura Wolvaardt and Karabo Meso to leave South Africa five down in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 clash at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday. Wolvaardt (90) departed after a sparking knock while Mesabo fell for a duck, both dismissals coming through stumpings.
Sandhu broke a 68-run partnership between Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp after quick wickets had seen the Proteas slip to 148/3. Earlier, she had dismissed Sune Luus to end a crucial 118-run stand for the second wicket.
Luus fell attempting to pierce the covers only to be caught out, leaving South Africa two down. Luus, along with skipper Laura Wolvaardt, had rebuilt the innings with a crucial century partnership after play resumed following a rain interruption at the R. Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo on Tuesday.
The contest was reduced to 40 overs per side due to the rain delay. As per the revised conditions, the powerplay will last eight overs, with each team’s five bowlers allowed a maximum of eight overs. Pakistan’s target will be adjusted using the DLS method.
