Nadine de Klerk played a heroic cameo to guide South Africa to a thrilling three-wicket win over Bangladesh in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2025 clash in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

After Bangladesh opted to bat and posted 232/6, South Africa were left needing eight runs off the final over to complete the chase. De Klerk, who was dropped in the penultimate over, made the most of her reprieve, sealing the victory in style with a six to finish the chase with three balls to spare.

The result lifted South Africa to third on the table with six points from four matches, marking their third straight win of the tournament while Bangladesh slumped to their third defeat.

Another thrilling win for the Proteas as they edge past Bangladesh in a last over finish in Visakhapatnam at the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

Marizanne Kapp (56) and Chloe Tryon (62) also played pivotal knocks to motor South Africa’s comeback, stitching an 85-run stand after the Proteas were left reeling at 78/5.

For Bangladesh, Nahida Akter (2/44) was the pick of the bowlers while Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni also chipped in with a wicket each.

Nahida struck with her very first delivery to remove Tazmin Brits for a duck before Laura Wolvaardt and Anneke Bosch added a steady fifty-run partnership. Bangladesh then changed the tide, hitting back with three quick wickets to reduce South Africa to five down.

After Nahida dismissed Kapp to claim her second wicket, Tryon’s run out added further pressure on the batting side. But de Klerk and Masabata Klaas held their nerve in a tense chase.

Chloe Tryon shone with both bat & ball as South Africa made it three wins on the trot with victory over Bangladesh in the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025.

In the first innings, South Africa applied early pressure on Bangladesh, restricting them to just 28 runs in the powerplay. Despite the slow start, openers Farzana Haque and Rubya Haider managed to put up Bangladesh’s highest opening partnership of the tournament.

Haider’s patient knock eventually came to an end when she was caught at mid on, handing South Africa their first breakthrough with Chloe Tryon claiming her wicket.

Nonkululeko Mlaba then trapped Haque LBW to put Bangladesh further on the back foot. However, captain Nigar Sultana Joty and Sharmin Akter (50) combined to rebuild the innings, guiding their side past the 100-run mark in the 30th over.

But it was Shorna Akter's quickfire half-century and Ritu Moni’s explosive cameo powered Bangladesh to a competitive total of 232/6 against South Africa.
