Local sponsors named for ICC World Twenty 2010

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Barbados Tourism Authority and St Lucia Tourism and MoneyGram as local sponsors for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 2010, which takes place in the West Indies from 30 April to 16 May.

The agreement, which is for the 2010 event only, will establish the three sponsors as local partners in addition to the ICC's other global and official partners.

The ICC World Twenty20 2010 features the top 12 men's teams and eight women's teams in a fast-and-furious event that will be a truly Caribbean celebration of this exciting short format of cricket.

The action begins on Friday 30 April with a double-header of Sri Lanka v New Zealand and local favourite the West Indies up against qualifier Ireland at Providence Stadium, Guyana. The matches in the men's event will then be split between Guyana, St Lucia and Barbados with the final taking place in Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on Sunday 16 May.

Tickets for the ICC World Twenty20 2010 have been selling fast but there are still some available through the venues themselves or via the event website at iccevents.yahoo.com.

Party stands will offer supporters a traditional area to watch the cricket, Caribbean style, while fans are also being encouraged to bring their most outrageous costumes, face paint, musical instruments and other noisemakers to matches as part of the "Bring It" campaign.
