Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash became the 25th player to score 100 first-class centuries on Saturday.

The 38-year-old Ramprakash was 100 not out off 196 balls with nine fours and a six in Surrey's match against Yorkshire in the county championship.

The right-hander made his first class debut for Middlesex against Yorkshire at Lord’s in 1987 and two years’ later he completed his maiden century in the Championship match between the sides at Headingley. Incidentally, his maiden first-class century also came against Yorkshire, in 1989 when he played for Middlesex.

He had been chasing the 100th century since scoring the 99th in May.

The last player to achieve the milestone was Graeme Hick in 1998. The list also include former greats like WG Grace, Don Bradman, Denis Compton and Wally Hammond.

At the close of play Ramprakash was presented with a commemorative silver salve and champagne by Alan Butcher (Surrey Head Coach), Mike Soper (Surrey CCC) and Yorkshire's Geoff Cope.
