Markram, Behardien combine for record List A partnership

Markram made 169 off 129 balls, while Behardien was 111* in the One-Day Cup match on Friday, 1 March. The knocks were crucial in leading the team's recovery from a dire 31/5, lifting them to 320/6 in 50 overs.

The duo came together in the last ball of the 13th over, and were separated only in the final over, when Markram was dismissed. They took the record from Grant Elliott and Luke Ronchi, who added an unbroken 267 for New Zealand against Sri Lanka in Dunedin in January 2015.

South Africa's young opening batsman, who has fifties in three of his last four Test matches, came in at No. 5 for his domestic side. He was circumspect at the start, taking 66 balls to get to his half-century, before accelerating. He needed just 36 more deliveries to get to three figures, and just 18 for his third fifty. His knock included 15 fours and seven sixes.

He then took 2/24 as the Titans sealed an 83-run win.

"We were fortunate enough to drag out the partnership and get to a stage where we could put pressure on the bowlers," Markram said after the game. "Fortunately, it came off today, with a bit of luck involved, a few dropped chances. We did the hard work and got to a stage where we could put the foot down."

Crediting Behardien, whose innings included eight fours and four sixes, he added, "His plan was crystal clear. It made batting with him a lot easier."
