The launch by Mauke island is a great boost is another indication of how the game is developingon the Cook Islands with men's playing numbers more than doubling, the addition of over 21 women's teams and cricket becoming part of the physical education curriculum of every school in the country.
General Manager for Cook Islands Cricket Alister Stevic said Mauke's induction is a great step forward. "It is fantastic to see the outer islands so enthusiastic about cricket and proactive in establishing competitions. It is especially impressive given that cricket is a non-traditional sport in the majority of these islands. It is certainly exciting times ahead for Mauke and we congratulate Dennis and his team of administrators on this milestone and commend them for their hard work."
