Mayank Agarwal ruled out of first England Test with concussion

Mayank showed signs of concussion after BCCI's medical team conducted a concussion test. "The 30-year-old is stable and will remain under close medical observation," stated the BCCI release.

India's squad for the five-match series in England – the first in the 2021-23 cycle of the ICC World Test Championship – has been marred by injuries, with Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan all returning home for rehabilitation.

India captain Virat Kohli sat out of the practice game against County XI due to a stiff back while vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane too was rested owing to a swollen hamstring.

Both are however expected to feature in the starting XI against England.
