Mohammed Siraj rips through Australia A

In response, Mayank Agarwal and Ravikumar Samarth took India A to 41/0 in just 12 overs before stumps were drawn.

Khawaja and Kurtis Patterson had begun the day promisingly for Australia, adding 78 runs before Siraj started wreaking havoc in Bangalore on Sunday, 2 September. He first dismissed Patterson for a solid 31, and proceeded to single-handedly reduce Australia to 90/4 in no time.

Travis Head, Peter Handscomb and Mitchell Marsh were the victims of Siraj's first blitz. Head scored just two runs while Handscomb and Marsh got ducks.

Things were starting to look alarmingly bleak for Australia but Khawaja found a willing accomplice in Marnus Labuschagne and the duo started rebuilding the innings. But just when Australia were threatening to dominate, Siraj struck again to dismiss Labuschagne for 60, ending a fine 114-run partnership.

Once again, Siraj cashed in on the opening to pry out wickets in a cluster and, with some help from left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav, made light work of the tail.

Kuldeep, who was dropped from the India team after playing the second Test against England at Lord's, got the wickets of Alex Carey for four and Brendan Doggett for nought.

Siraj also removed Michael Neser and Chris Tremain for ducks. Through all the chaos Khawaja kept his calm and composure. Jon Holland, the No. 11, offered some resistance, scoring an unbeaten 12 in a partnership worth 28 runs before Khawaja became Siraj's eighth victim in the third ball of his 20th over, of which he had conceded just 59 runs.
