Nepal finishes runner-up to qualify for Women's Asia Cup

Nepal has qualified for the upcoming Women's Asia Cup tournament by finishing second in the ICC Women’s World Cup Asia Qualifier 2016 which concluded on Saturday.

Nepal scored a four-wicket win over China to finish second behind Thailand. Nepal went to six points after chasing down a target of 86 with 2.3 overs to spare.

The Women's Asia Cup will be played in the Twenty20 format in Thailand in November-December. The other teams in the tournament will be India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, apart from host Thailand.

Meanwhile, Thailand completed a seven-wicket victory over host Hong Kong and finished the four-team double-league tournament with 10 points. Thailand had already ensured a place in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2017 on Friday with its fourth win.

Sirinitra Saengskaorat’s unbeaten knock of 36 saw Thailand emerge victorious with seven deliveries to spare while chasing an 84-run target.

China and Hong Kong finished with four points each.
