In another action-packed day of the ICC Intercontinental Cup, 15 wickets fell on the second day of the contest between Afghanistan and Netherlands at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Resuming at their overnight score of 7 for 1, Netherlands was finally bowled out for 228 in 61.4 overs, to end with an overall lead of 232.

In its chase for 233, Afghanistan finished the day's play at 111 for six in 35.1 overs. Afghanistan needs a further 122 runs for a win with only four wickets in hand.

Earlier Tom Heggelman (59: 114b, 6x4), Tom Cooper (35), skipper Peter Borren (43) and Pieter Seelaar (43) played pivotal roles in Netherlands innings.

Infact Netherlands was struggling at 138 for eight at one stage. It required a fighting 59 runs ninth wicket stand between Borren and Seelaar which added meat to the Netherlands total.

For Afghanistan, Izatullah Dawlatzai (5-45), Samiullah Shenwari (3-75) and Dawlat Zadran (2-63) picked up the wickets.

In its chase, Afghanistan lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Asghar Stanikzai (43) and Shabir Noori (23) offered any resistance for Afghanistan.

Pieter Seelaar (3-21) played the key role with the ball for Netherlands.
