New coach dreams big for Kenya

Newly-appointed Kenya coach Eldine Baptise aims to return the country to the top of the Associate Rankings table during his two-year tenure.

The former West Indies batting all-rounder, who played in ten Tests and 43 ODIs, will also be actively involved in the development of the game in the country at the grassroots level.

Speaking at a news conference, he said: "I will personally take charge in identifying young players and the selection of the players into the national team, and hopefully, we will put Kenya back as the number one in the Associates."

Eldine joins Cricket Kenya when the team is currently engaged in a busy international calendar with an ICC Intercontinental Cup and a five-ODI tour to Zimbabwe next month and another to South Africa in November 2009.

Kenyan cricket has suffered over the years with disappointing performances at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, ICC World Twenty20 2007, failing to qualify for the ICC World Twenty20 2009 and poor performances against Zimbabwe and Ireland.
