New Gibraltar Cricket Logo Launch
Gibraltar Cricket unveiled their new logo which was designed by two school pupils after a competition, with the launch hosted by Gibraltar Cricket President Christian Rocca and attended by the Minister for Sports & Culture, the Hon. Steven Linares.
The new logo was designed following a competition for children in Gibraltar who responded in their numbers with nearly 200 entries. The final logo was created using the designs of St Annes pupil Botond Lassan and the entry from St Josephs pupil Jude Berrenworth who were rewarded with a prizes at the launch.
At the launch Gibraltar Cricket?s main commercial partners were also in attendance, Natwest represented by Regional Director David Bruce & Kathy Walker & O'Reilly's represented by Director Andy Hunter.
Gibraltar Cricket President Christian Rocca on launching the logo said "This is an important development to help reposition the brand of cricket at an exciting time for the sport in Gibraltar. We have also launched our new strategic plan, Building the Base, which focuses heavily on ensuring we have even more cricket played at a junior level that will serve the sport well in years to come".
Christian Rocca also highlighted the good work of Gibraltar Cricket in schools praising Development Manager Mark Bacarese in saying, "Cricket is taught to 750 children every week in schools in Gibraltar, a figure that we believe is as high as any other sport," concluded Rocca.
The logo launch also coincided with the first 2 days of a Coach Education Programme that saw players, volunteers and teachers working towards an official UKCC Coaching Qualification. Gibraltar Cricket were fortunate to secure the services of Cricket Scotland's Head of Community Development, Steve Paige to deliver the course with a high standard of applicants receiving tutoring over the first of two weekends.
