Regional Umpire Consultant Graham Cooper has produced the first ECC Umpire?s Newsletter, called ?Signals?. It is intended this will be a quarterly publication.
Baldwin to stand in Intercontinental Cup Semi Finals
ECC Umpire Paul Baldwin (right) has been called up to officiate in the ICC Intercontinental Cup Semi Finals in Namibia. He will stand in the Kenya v Bermuda game on 23/24/25 October at the United Sports Club, Windhoek. Based in Germany, Paul was one of the four initial European members of the ICC Associate and Affiliate Panel of Umpires and following his appointment to Umpire in the WCQS Division 2 tournament in Malaysia, has also stood in the Scotland v Ireland Intercontinental Cup regional game this summer and the Notts Sport ECC Affiliate Championship in Belgium.
Scots bowled over by the Ashes
Channel 4?s official viewing statistics for the Ashes coverage show that up to 18% of its UK audience was north of the border despite the fact that Scots make up less than a tenth of the population, showing that the Scots actually did give a XXXX for the Ashes?
Belgium to hold fundraising event
The Belgian Cricket Federation are arranging an Asian earthquake fundraising event on 15th October (juniors) and 16th October (seniors). The juniors will have sessions at U11, U13 and U15 levels. The seniors are holding a sixes competition with 20 teams paying 120 euros per team for the privilege of playing!
Coaching news: First Umpire course in Holland
-6 November will see the first official ECC umpire course to be held in The Netherlands. The GL6 course will be run by Ray Holyer in conjunction with Steve Tovey.
