Kenya batsman Alex Obanda has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during his team's ODI against Zimbabwe at Harare on Saturday.

Obanda was charged with a Level 1 offence contrary to Section 2.1.3 of the code, which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision".

The offence relates to an incident that took place in the 12th over when the 21-year-old right-hander was dismissed, caught at the wicket off the bowling of Ray Price. Instead of leaving immediately, the player stood at the wicket for a substantial period of time shaking his head.

He was charged under the code by the on-field umpires Kevan Barbour and Nadir Shah as well as third umpire Owen Chirombe and the matter was taken up by Alan Hurst of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees.

The player pleaded guilty at an early stage and, under the provisions of the new code, the matter was determined by the match referee without a full hearing. Mr Hurst imposed a fine equivalent to 15 per cent of the player's match fee.

Offences included in Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct can range from an official reprimand up to 50 per cent of his or her match fee. The full text of the new code can be found at http://www.icc-cricket.com/rules_and_regulations.php.
